Introduction

The Bachelor in Investment Management is an undergraduate academic programme affiliated to University of Mumbai that leverages on a unique learning opportunity in the combined disciplines of Investment, Finance and Management. This program prepares students for a career in financial asset management, either on the buy side working with active portfolio allocation or on the sell side, working for brokerage firms. The program gives students a rigorous training in accounting, statistics, and finance. Students pursuing the programme will be exposed to both, the rich tradition and rigour of the investment management as well as to the state-of-the-art technologies used in the fields of economics, management, marketing, finance and insurance. The program enables students to analyze financial statements, perform company valuations, construct efficient portfolios with appropriate risk profiles, and manage risk using dynamic trading strategies and derivative instruments.

Eligibility

A candidate for being eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Commerce (Investment Management) Degree course shall have passed XII std. examination of the Maharashtra State Board of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent and secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate at first attempt (40% in case of reserved category). Every candidate admitted to the degree Course shall have to register himself/herself with the University of Mumbai.

Admission

Admission to the course offered by the rules framed by the University of Mumbai from time to time and will be given at the commencement of the first semester.
Candidates seeking admission other than Maharashtra board and colleges affiliated other than University of Mumbai must produce a Transfer Certificate from the board/college last attended.

Programme Outcome

For those with an interest in the investment markets this is the right choice for UG studies. It is closely linked to financial markets and offers instruction in the basics of investment and wealth creation; investment banking; taxation; security analysis and portfolio management, besides economics, auditing, banking and even hands-on learning through project work.

Scheme of Examination

The Scheme of the Examination shall be divided in two parts:
1. Internal Assessment – 25 Marks
     The allocation of 25 marks shall be on the following basis:
              a) One class tests of 20 marks to be held in the given semester.
              b) 5 marks for Class Participation and Attendance.
2. Semester End Examination – 75 Marks
              a) Duration – This examination shall be of 2½ hours.
