the news reporting platforms of more or less known groups or even individuals. Now the question that arises is which
news should the readers-viewers- listeners trust. Even in digital media, people rely on the same news which is
broadcasted by an established agency, news group or government agency. If people have now begun to trust orshare
information disseminated by dubious sources, it is a matter of concern. It is also necessary for the newsgroups to
compulsorily incorporate the primacy of the editor element in each of the new emerging platforms in the future.
Monopolies and Expansion of Global Digital Media: The discussion about ownership has been going on for a long time.
Today be it print or electronic media, the dependence on digital platforms is increasing. Although our information
technology sector has made a lot of progress and is also developing rapidly, we are still lagging behind western and
European countries in this matter. In this way, today in our country, aggregators like search engines or websites like
YouTube showing video content, etc. are almost the monopolies of other countries. In India, efforts are on to achieve self-
reliance in this area as well. In future, we will hopefully become self- sufficient even in the matter of social media
platforms and news aggregators and signs of these are already observable.
The News Media Bargaining Code: Recently Australia has passed “The News Media Bargaining Code” to balance the
power of global digital companies and media conglomerates. Changes are made in such laws in Australia or America
according to the time and situation of the country. We need to legislate in some perspective according to India's own
conditions and global conditions. Sensitive information that is available with companies like Facebook-Twitter from
the point of view of India, but earlier the Government of India did not have any specific law or rule to govern it. Now this
problem has been solved. When any company does business in a country, it also must follow the laws and regulations of
the country concerned. India should also set legal provisions according to its needs. Due to the rapidly changing
circumstances, the old laws will not be effective in current times.
Problem of Paid News: Paid news is a very difficult and complicated issue. It is not easy to decide which news is paid
news. Nowadays, the trend of advertorials is increasing, in which the editorial subject and the subject of advertisement
are merged. It is a very complex and challenging task to establish whether a financial advantage has been taken or if the
news is a PR exercise. I believe that media groups should adopt self-regulation. Incorporating India's values and an
editorial element in the world of news can most likely solve this problem.
New Education Policy and its Effect on Media Education: Like other areas of education, the New Education Policy will
have a far-reaching and widespread impact on media education. There are various provisions in the New Education
Policy which are related to mass communication and media education. In future, mass communication education will not
be confined to journalism or higher education, but will become a part of school education. With its becoming a part of the
school curriculum, the need for media instructors and technical people will increase at the school level. With an increase
of the scope of media education, the number of people who read and teach will also increase. In the New Education
Policy, the role of digital mediums and IT in teaching- learning has been accepted. With the help of modern technology,
we can take the reach of media-mass communication education to remote areas. The role of digital or technology in
teaching work will get a boost.
Conclusion: To conclude, there is also a widespread belief that the media is going through a crisis right now, as it is
struggling to retain its pride as the fourth pillar of democracy. To save its credibility, it is necessary for the media to
recognize the vastness of the crisis that stands in front of it. Therefore, the media must address the criticism of its
credibility, as they will only remain powerful in a democracy if they become the people's confidante, not if they are close
to the government and corporates.
