The Kind of Person I Want to Be

(This Essay was Awarded the Second Prize in the On-the-Spot Essay Writing Competition
Organized by the English Language Association)

What if a person gives you his shoulder to relax after a long hectic day? After all the regrets, rejections, failures there is a

ray of hope which gives a person something to smile about. It is like when a rainbow is sighted between dense dark
clouds. This is the kind of person that I want to be! A type of person who shows up just to say that 'You are fine… you are

enough… you don't need to prove anything to anyone.' A person who just supports you like a backbone. This is the kind of
person that I want to be.

The all- time great businessman Mr. Ratan Tata, one of the richest persons in India, is a most humble person and then there

is a generous local food vendor who occasionally gives free snacks to kids. Though he is poor in terms of money, his heart
says it all. A person who is chasing achievements and fame and sometimes falling or failing may need a person like me. I

want to help people and pamper them with genuine feelings. Such people are the need of the current times.
A rose which is almost about to die, can be saved by a few drops of water, which sparkle preciously to save the petals. That
is the kind of person I want to be... a saviour! If someone is just tired, why not be the reason for their smile? Why not be a

ray of incandescent love for them? A world where everyone is fighting for luxury and money why not be someone who
just wants to find harmony, happiness and help others? Running to earn the world for your family to provide them with

comforts and happiness is nice, but not thinking about the woes of others is bad.

A kid asks for a toy and he or she gets it is great, but a man watching the same dreams with open eyes for his or her kids and
not being able to get them is sad. I want to be that kid who fulfills those dreams. A dad saving his valuable money for his

kid's future is great, but a dad with no money and a child with a bleak future are sad. I want to be the way Sri Krishna was -
best mentor, great friend and a good son. This whole world is asking of peace and harmony, but someone needs to start

this, and I want to be the one to start it. I want to be a person who is not perfect, but strives for perfection; a person who
helps another cross the path; a person who can be trusted blindly; a person who becomes a reason for hope and love; a

person who plays soothing notes with his flute in the chaotic times; a person who can help another feel relaxed and
        refreshed and much more.
