       and mental health. “I prefer going to gym because it works as a stress
       burster for me,” says Saorabh Pradhan, a 21-year-old college student and
       a fitness freak. Many a times gym not only helps to maintain physical
       health but also acts as an aid for mental comfort.
        Research states that lifting weight not only increases physical strength
       but also triggers the functioning of brain. “Gym acts as a medicine for me,
       after working out I feel relaxed, free and get a sound sleep.” says Sanjyot
       Devhare, a 20-year-old college student and a fitness freak. “But going to
       the gym is the best option for me because I can adjust considering my busy
       schedule,” Sanjyot added.
        For many, working out helps them to channelize their energy to transform
       themselves and to get emotionally strong. But what about the diet which
       we follow? Is it important? A Big YES. Going to the gym and maintaining
       ourselves comes later but the most important factor is the food which we
       eat, the primary and mandatory source of energy. “It is very important to
       follow healthy and quality diet, whether you are a person who go to the
       gym regularly or you want to follow a healthy lifestyle as it is an essential
       foundation of your health to stay fit,” says Dr. Minal Asurlekar, a Dietetics
       expert.
        Diet and gym goes hand-in-hand, to lift weights we need energy and we
       get energy from the food which we consume. If the food is sufficient
       enough to provide proper nutrition then only we will get the proper and
       desired result. Many a times, the diet which we follow is not enough for
       the weight lifters, they feel that it lacks somewhere. It is because the
       amount of protein, carbohydrates, calories which they want is not sufficient
       for them through the food or the diet plan they follow. These proteins and
       carbohydrates as well as calories play a vital role while doing exercise. It
       is a major source of energy for people who go to the gym as it helps them
       in muscle recovery, growth and strength to achieve their desired goal. In
       such case, gym members go for the widely available options which are
       easily accessible in market that is supplements. “When I started gym a
       year ago, I used to do weight training, cardio, endurance training but I was
       not getting results because of the lack of nutrients from my homemade
       food, that's when my trainer suggested to go for whey protein powder, a
       supplement," says Saorabh Pradhan.
