K.P.B. Hinduja College of Commerce was founded in 1974 by the visionary industrialist Late Shri Parmanand Deepchand Hinduja. The philanthrophist who believed in the welfare of human kind devoted a portion of the profits from his mercantile activities for charitable work especially in the fields of education and healthcare which he considered as the fundamental right of every human being.K.P.B. Hinduja College of Commerce is recognised as one of the premier academic institutions in Mumbai and has the ISO 9001 Certification. It received the Best College Award for year 2010-11, from the University of Mumbai. In March 2016, the University Grants Commission UGC) selected the College as a College with Potential for Excellence. The coveted status was awarded to the College from amongst several Colleges that had applied for the same (scheme). In 2017, the College was re-accredited in the third cycle by NAAC and awarded A+ Grade.The College has a strength of more than 6000 students, 70 full-time and 45 visiting faculty members. It offers 15 Academic Programmes ranging from the Junior College to the Post Graduate and Doctorate Level.Committed to moulding students for a career in business/commerce, the College aims to train them to assume responsible positions in the fields of commerce, banking, insurance and industry. To achieve this goal, excellence in Academic Courses as well as industry oriented skill development courses is encouraged. Several courses such as Diamond cutting, Cyber Law, Stock Market Operations, CFP, Enterpreneurship Programme, Digital Media Marketing, Event Management, ERP, CRM and Computer Applications are made available for students of the college who wish to pursue these skill oriented programmes. Beside this exposure to functioning of the real world of commerce is made possible by organising various co-curricular activities like guest lectures by eminent persons from industry, industrial visits and field trips, as well as internships.In keeping with the motto of the College Character is Supreme the College endeavours to instill in students a sense of social commitment through the various extension activities of the NSS, NCC, DLLE, Nature Club. The values of commitment and service to society inculcated through involvement in these activities, makes students responsiblecitizens of India.

In 2015, the Hinduja Group, which is headed by Shri. Parmanand Deepchand Hinduja's four sons; Srichand, Gopichand, Prakash and Ashok will complete a century. The Group, which has estimated worldwide revenues of several billions wants to usher in the 100th year in style. Their objective is to create a totally unique model. That unique model calls for big investments in high-growth core sectors like oil and gas, power, infrastructure, real estate, telecom, education and healthcare, most of which will be made in India.

K.P.B. Hinduja College of Commerce at the age of 36 years is a young and promising adult with well-defined goals and aspirations. The generous support extended by the Management, the merit of the faculty, the academic excellence of the students (Average Results: 99% at H.S.C, 88% at T.Y.B.Com. and 100 % at Self-financing levels), tie-ups with leading academic institutions, both national and international high ratings in nationwide surveys (In an India Today - Org Marg - Survey on colleges which was published in the India Today's issue dated June 2010, the college ranked No. 1st among the Commerce colleges in Mumbai and ranked No. 8th all over India) , gratify and enthuse us, especially since we at Hinduja College believe "Sky is not the limit".Over the years the college has literally and figuratively grown from strength to strength. It started with student strength of 400 in 1974 and has reached a figure of about 7000 at this point in time, while the number of teachers has increased from 12 up to 105. The college which started with a single Commerce course today offers 41 courses from the Higher Secondary up to the Doctorate level and includes both the Commerce, Science and Arts streams.
