Women Empowerment

                                                                               Disha Choudhary (FYJC)

Guess who has infinity in the palms with an endless strength? Our society has always been a male dominated
society, due to which decadent belief systems have become barriers in achieving women empowerment. Women
empowerment is a subject which needs utmost attention of the society. Women empowerment is empowering
women to take their own decisions rather than decisions being taken for them.

A life of struggle is nothing new for average women. They are familiar with it since birth and in a single lifetime
a woman usually takes numerous births as she plays numerous roles - daughter, wife, mother and so forth.
Empowering a girl child does not mean merely educating her and then expecting her to toe the line when it
comes to fulfilling her dreams and passions. We must ensure that support is provided to her and a helping hand is
extended to her to rise and to shine.
When it comes to women there are many stereotypes. The world loves to stereotype, but the truth is we are our
own type. Societal pressures on women are high. "Log Kya Kahenge?" is a frequent question almost always
directed towards women, but one really can't please everyone and at end of the day the only one whom we need
to please is ourself and that alone will make us happy.

The emancipation of women and their rights are being recognized and granted, but too slowly. Dowry, domestic
violence, sexual harassment, rape, gender discrimination, female infanticide women, honour killings, pay
imparity… the list of discriminations and disparity is unending. Society needs to shake up and wake up.
Relegating women implies relegating society because after all, “Women Hold up Half the Sky.” (Mao Zedong)

                                                         Art for Life

                                                                                       Vidhi Jain. (FYJC)

People today are over- working their brain and when one overworks one's brain it results
in worry, anxiety and trauma which in turn lead to illness. It is therefore therapeutic,
especially in the fast-paced current times to cultivate a hobby that one loves to heal
ourselves and to liberate us from mundane, tedious, day to day tasks.

Pursuing a hobby connected with art gives a person a chance to connect with one's deeper
self. The world is a canvas to our imagination and art is a way of pioneering new ways of
thinking and viewing the world, unique to its creator. Art washes away from the soul, the
dust of everyday life. Traditions, beliefs, values, lifestyle...all shine through what we
create as ART. Delving into art will allow creativity to flow through innovations. The
mind is a powerful source, but overstimulating the mind can result in forgetfulness and
exhaustion so choose a hobby that does not strain the mind; rather select one that soothes
the soul. Art however isn't restricted just to drawing. It could be playing a musical
instrument; mastering a dance form; embroidery, yoga… actually anything that
destresses and yet exhilarates. To quote Terri Guillemets, “The truth is that art is more
than just a practice – it is a way of life”.
