National Service Scheme (NSS)

        The ideological orienta on of the NSS is inspired by the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. Very appropriately, the mo o of NSS is “NOT
        ME, BUT YOU”. An NSS volunteer places the 'community' before 'self'. 'Educa on through Service' is the purpose of the NSS. In
        keeping with this mo o and purpose, the NSS units of the College iden fied the needs and problems of the community and
        organised various ac vi es by involving them in problem-solving exercises.
        ●   On the occasion of World Vi ligo Day, an online session  tled 'Let's Accept Vi ligo' was organized on June 25, 2021. Mr. Akash
             Tiwari, the Resource Person, shared his life experiences on how he courageously faced
             vi ligo. He even shared some inspira onal videos to spread awareness about the skin
             disorder.

        ●   On August 21, 2022, a Tree Planta on Drive was conducted at Kelva Beach by the
             Kelve Paryavaran Samvardhan Mandal. The NSS volunteers of the College who had
             been invited for the Drive planted 75 seedlings of Barringtonia and Kono Karpus trees
             with fer lizers.

        ●   A  webinar   tled  'Two  Wheels,  One  Life'  for  two-wheeler  safety  awareness  was
             organized on October 29, 2021. In the webinar, Mr. Cyril Gaikwad and Mr. Rohit Dalvi,
             Resource Persons from United Way Mumbai spoke about the three main elements that can improve two-wheeler safety,
             namely: wearing a helmet according to one's head size; not using a helmet that has been impacted a er one impact and what
             and how to assist a vic m in case of an accident.

                                      ●     A Voter Registra on Drive aptly called 'Mark Your Presence' was conducted in collabora on
                                          with NSS Cell, Mumbai on November 23-24, 2021. A Google form was circulated to collect
                                          the details required for the registra on of a Voter ID. Later ZOOM mee ngs were ini ated in
                                          which volunteers along with the persons who filled the Google forms came together to fill
                                          in the official form for Voter Registra on on the website of nvsp.in.

                                      ●       Another Electoral Process was conducted on November 25 – 26, 2021. In this Drive all
                                          persons who wanted to get themselves registered as voters were invited to the College with
                                          the documents required for voter registra on on the official website of nvsp.in. Eighty
             prospec ve voters availed of the opportunity.
        ●   In order to spread AIDS awareness the Units of different colleges par cipated in a Flash
             Mob which was conducted in collabora on with Red Ribbon Club on December 10, 2021.
             The  choreographers  prepared  volunteers  for  concepts  of  LGBTQI,  Drug  Addic on,
             Coronavirus, HIV etc.
                                      ●    Muskurahat: On the occasion of Christmas, the NSS Units
                                           organised Clothes Collec on on December 20-21,2021
                                           followed by a Distribu on Drive on December 25, 2021
                                           at Radhika Old Age Home, Bhayandar, Lower Parel and
                                           areas around the College. Muskurahat was an endeavour ini ated by the NSS Units to help
                                           homeless and needy people.

                                      ●    Social Media and Informa on Disorder: The NSS Units organised a Mumbai City District
                                           level webinar on January 08, 2022 on the topic 'Social Media and Disinforma on - How to
                                           Stop the Spread of False Informa on Online?' Dr. Rommani Sen Shitak, a College faculty
             member, led the webinar highligh ng the sta s cs of how fake news is more likely to be shared among people rather than
             real news and WhatsApp is the largest carrier of fake news and hoaxes in India.

        ●   As Mumbai faced a serious cold wave in the month of January people living in slums, roads and open areas were most
             affected. A por on of the clothes collected during the Clothes Dona on Drive and more than fi y blankets were distributed
             by around ten NSS volunteers to needy persons at Masjid Bunder, an area adopted by the NSS Units of Hinduja College. This
             ac vity was conducted on January 12, 2022 which has been designated as Na onal Youth Day.
