Angst about the resurgence or recurrence of the recent pandemic which has expectantly ebbed con nues to loom large. Its
impact on human lives and living condi ons was terrifying. As per h ps://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/coronavirus-
death-toll , as on June 22, 2022, an es mated 6,353,391 people lost their lives due to the virus; economies worldwide
depreciated dras cally and infla on took large leaps. Though inconceivable, yet it is a fact that micro organisms as miniscule
                                               -9
          as 80 to 120 nanometer in diameter i.e. 10 m i.e. a thousand-millionth of a meter threw human civiliza on into disarray for a
fair length of me and con nue to haunt mankind in spite of the so called knowledge explosion.
However, annals of history have recorded the faith and tenacity of the human race to rise and surmount the worst of crisis, be
they the Spanish Flu, World Wars, atomic and chemical warfare, genocides, tsunamis, earthquakes or whatever else. Mankind
has like the proverbial phoenix risen from the ashes and emerged robust to prove that 'Stumbling blocks are o en stepping
stones' and that 'Necessity is the mother of inven on.’

With the Covid pandemic face masks hitherto known and understood to be 'veils' which used to be considered as a socio-
religious prac ce became the mandatory order of the day and o en with embellishments, a fashion clothing too; the bar of
hygiene standards rose high and gave sani zer and ssue businesses a fillip; air and noise pollu on levels dipped to a desirable
all me providing health benefits and refreshing the memory of the sounds of chirping birds. The mandatory lockdown gave
Mother Nature the la tude to resuscitate and forest dwellers an opportunity to reclaim their spa al rights and online
teaching, learning, medical consulta on, buying, selling, money transfer and much more have made common folk
unimaginably tech savvy and have opened up a range of varied avenues and opportuni es.

This being the Editorial of a College Yearbook and me being a commi ed academician I feel gra fied about how my fraternity
rose to the occasion to overcome the crisis. Online lectures and examina ons replaced offline methods and soon the two
modes were merged. This hybridiza on has increased the outreach of educa on which is no longer rigidly me or proximity
bound. This mode also provides convenience in implemen ng audio-visual teaching aids making academic instruc on mul -
          pronged and more wholesome.

Though as aforemen oned the fear of the pandemic con nues to loom, one can be op mis c that the worst is over. In its trail
the dreaded viral a ack brought isola on and death, but also a renewed faith in the tenacity of the human race to improvise,
rejuvenate and survive and in unison declare, 'Come what may we shall overcome!'

                                                                                               Dr. Ishrat Ali Lalljee
