The Editor's Note

Unleashed, a small initiative started five years back in a small classroom has travelled way beyond those four walls to explore some far away parts of
the country. As the name itself suggests, we unleash our potential to bring stories from various walks of life. This edition brings to you stories from the
hustling metropolitan cities of Mumbai and Delhi to the secluded villages of India. Unleashed 2019 will take the reader on a virtual tour in its quest to
bring some novel and unconventional stories. The edition strikes the perfect confluence of traditional field reporting with the modern armchair form of
journalism. While some stories bring to you the reality from the ground, the rest of them provides for leisure reading on a weekend.
Our journey starts with a heritage walk straight from the national capital. Aaryanshi Mohan visits a forgotten relic in Old Delhi to nurture its timeless
beauty. The next stop comes at ‘Aamchi Mumbai’ ‘Aamchi Local’ where Neethi Manoharan finds new friends in the ladies compartment who take the
suburban railway network daily to travel from one part of the city to another. From there, we travel to the Kashmir Valley. Ruchi Chandrawanshi talks
to an artist, Mohammad Muneem to see the ‘Paradise on Earth’ through a different lens. From the beautiful abode of nature, Devik Jain takes us to the
crowded and lively cloth market of Surat to bring us the real picture of the place after the rollout of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and the ensuing
protests and strikes organized by these traders.

The cover story of the edition deals with an emerging vertical in the field of education primarily during the age of schooling amongst students. It has
been observed that there is a new trend amongst parents of entrusting their children with education pertaining to their particular religions along with
their mainstream Western education. Akélla Sairam travels in and around the city of Mumbai to talk to students, teachers and parents. We tried to put
forth a multi-faceted view by talking to people from different faiths and knowing the different measures undertaken by them to spread these forms of
education and the commonplace problems faced by them.

Coming back to the journey, the year 2018 saw the largest number of caste and religion based violence throughout the country. Atharva Pande and
Gaurav Mangtani travelled to Rainpada, a remote village in the interior of Maharashtra to alleviate the suffering and grief of the villagers by talking
with them and sharing their story with the wider public through this magazine. After a tragic stop, one needs a respite so we decided to end the journey
by taking you to the secluded village of Prabalmachi where Viransh Shah stumbled upon one of his trekking expeditions and unravelled the magic of
the confluence of nature and technology.

Throughout the journey, the readers will come across notable reads focusing on their routine lives. Deepti Parmar tells you about the perils of social
networking platform Instagram whereas, Kainaz Bharucha introduces a new form of establishing a business, Saili Nalge makes the readers aware about
the dangers and consequences of cyber crimes. In the rapid transforming world, health is the most important yet highly neglected, Sahil Mayekar
discusses the right ways of working out and the corresponding dietary supplements. All’s well that ends well but All’s great that ends sweetly. Mansi
Savla enriches your test buds by serving these delicious delicacies handpicked from select places across Mumbai.

Everything you see henceforth is a result of efforts put in by the Third Year Journalism students of K. P. B. Hinduja College of Commerce, under the
guidance of our professors. We hope that you will like it and enjoy a good read!
