The Warrior within Women

                                               Anisha Vora (FYBAMMC)

I was little when I rst drew my dreams on bright walls
Optimistic and passionate, I believed in my thoughts
Only to face humiliation owing to misogyny
To be told that women are meant to reside in houses, not in their dreams
“Look” they said, “She has no wings and yet she aspires to y”
They threw stones to break my walls and questioned my abilities.
Little did they know that I had the power to turn stones into owers
And bloom in a garden of thorns
To be who I wanted to be, because no one can be ME!
Society's unjustied atrocities to pale my reection in the mirror of my dreams
Where I could colour my life in the way that I wish failed
If only society wouldn't devalue my prociency and didn't exaggerate my deciencies
If only society wouldn't put up fake barriers in the name of modesty and insecurity
If only society wouldn't force me to abide by man-made rules
But, I am born free and must break the rules
Unfetter the chains that bolt my senses
And live life king-size, but like an empress!
Women, our worth is far more than the dowry our fathers pay
We are far more beautiful than ugly societal standards
           We need to break stereotypes
And become the protagonist of every story that we write.
We are women; we procreate the world and cannot be ruled by our procreation.

                                             Jinal Kumari Surana (SYBMS)

The day that she was born
                                                 An expectation was torn
Her parents wanted a boy, of course
But she arrived as a curse
With little worth and value she grew
She realized that what was being done with her was grossly wrong
And decided that she wouldn't be a destitute lifelong
                                                She resolved to be strong.
She desired to question society, “Why? If it's not a boy is there no joy?”
                                                      A girl is a pearl
                                                   Equality is her right
                                                    She has the ability
                                                   To transform society
Why marry her in haste and let her talents go waste?
She holds up half the sky and can surpass it too.
