The activities undertaken by the NSS volunteers in the interim period between the two phases

● Two Food Donation Drives were organized at Charni Road and Bhayandar respectively.
Volunteers who resided outside Mumbai city limits donated food packets in their vicinity to
needy persons. (January 30, 2021)
● NSS volunteers visited Manori Island, Malad to help carry saplings to the place where they
were to be planted in the upcoming monsoon and to collect dry leaves and branches and dump
them in a composting pit. (February 07 & March 14, 2021)
● Two Blood Donation Drives were organized, one at Churchgate Railway Station and the other
in the College premises. A total of 121 units of blood were collected in both the drives to
contribute towards the dire shortage of blood during the pandemic. Donors were provided with
a Donor Card and a Certificate to acknowledge their contribution. (January 12, 2021 & April 07
2021)
● A Road Safety event was organised on account of the 32nd Road Safety Month. NSS volunteers
held placards and orally persuaded motorists to adhere to permissible speed limits and to focus
on speed reduction. The activity culminated with volunteers being addressed by the Policemen
who were present at the event about how thousands of lives are lost each year in road accidents
caused due to over speeding and negligent driving. (February 01 - 02, 2021)
● A paper bag making and distribution activity and a mask distribution activity was conducted
wherein volunteers made paper bags at their homes and distributed them to shop owners in their
locality and explained to them the harmful effects of using plastic bags. They also distributed
masks to safeguard people from the dreaded Corona virus. (February 05 – 10, 2021)
