A College Life Diary

        (F.Y.J.C.)

College life is a very important and memorable phase of one's life. It poses a
challenge as there is a sudden exposure to the outside world a er ten years or
more in a protec ve school environment No uniform, new surroundings, new
friends and so on. It is also a stage when one begins to take one's own
decisions because one wrong move at this stage may affect one's en re life.
The students in a classroom are categorized into four types on the basis of
their choice of sea ng and/or some mes standing. Front benchers who i
mpress the teachers; middle benchers who are fence-si ers; last benchers
who perhaps just come to get a endance and the 'outstanding' ones who are
always seen outside the classroom, except while wri ng their examina ons in
        which they usually perform badly.
Students in a classroom may also be classified on the basis of their personality traits. Some are serious about learning, ever
present, prompt to respond and ever ready to obey. They form their own group and arrogantly look down upon those who are
different from them. Some are less serious about learning, but good at sports, singing, dancing etc. Their a endance is average,
but they're usually quite social. Then there are a third type who are noisy, distracted and mischievous. They make the classroom a
fun place, but are usually disliked by teachers. And, of course, there is the Class Representa ves. Elected or nominated they have a
high status. They too may be categorized into two types – one who joins the class in having fun, but puts up a different face before
the teachers and two, the CR who begins to think that he is a subs tute for the teacher and grows to become a big bully.
I recall my first day in College. I was nervous, but full of pride and a mindset to do something great with my life. As me passed both
the pride and the mo vated simply vanished. Slumming, chilling, ragging, bunking and similar 'ings' became a part of my
vocabulary and life, but so what? This is college life. Sooner or later we all become serious about our lives and careers. We can't be
carefree all our lives so let's gather these precious memories to recall in future.

                                                                                             My Dear Best Friend

        Time will pass,
        And we'll not be same.

Neither will I disturb you at a night hour,
Nor will we have an early start together.

Your presence will not anymore be there to brighten up my day,
But your absence will definitely tear my heart apart.

Those mischievous talks and late night walks,

Our prankish behaviour and being each other's saviour,
Sharing benches, sharing clothes, sharing books, sharing notes
        Those memories remain enshrined forever

Because soul-mates we are and shall remain.
