Annual Residential Camp
The N.S.S Unit of K.P.B Hinduja College of Commerce in association with Hinduja Foundation held its
Annual 7 Day Residential Camp from February 03 - 09, 2020 at Jawahar, a tribal village area in
Palghar District. The Camp was attended by 58 NSS Volunteers escorted by Faculty Programme
Ofcers Dr. Nitin Bharaskar, Dr. Kailas Kagade and Dr. Khyati Vora. Other faculty members who
visited the campsite included Dr. Kuldeep Sharma, Dr. Shraddha Jain, Prof. Manoj Patil and Prof. Vijay
Botalji.
The camp activities commenced with an Orientation Programme conducted by MITTRA Foundation,
Hinduja Foundation and LLF wherein volunteers were oriented about the various activities planned for
the days ahead.
Each day at the campsite began with an early morning Yoga session for mind and body tness. The
other activities undertaken by the volunteers included building a Check Dam which will conserve over
2 lakh liters of water and digging 03 Soak pits, besides setting up public taps to prevent the breeding
of mosquitoes because of water accumulation. A Cleanliness Drive and a Donation Drive were
conducted by the campers in which stationery items, clothes, toys and sanitary pads were collected
and distributed among needy villagers.
The volunteers also performed and competed in Street Plays on
social issues such as Alcohol Addiction, Waste Management,
HIV/AIDS Awareness and Gender Sensitization. These
performances helped to create social and civic awareness among
the villagers. Further, the campers got an opportunity to teach
students studying from Std. III to Std. X in 08 Zilla Parishad schools.
They also had interactive sessions with 'sarpanches' and farmers
and visited Jai Vilas Palace and Sunset Point.
The Residential Camp concluded with a bonre and a lively cultural
programme in which the volunteers showcased their talents.
